The load capacity index, also known as load or load index, abbreviated LI, is a coding that indicates the maximum permissible load capacity of a tire.
An LI 92 specifies a load capacity of 630kg, and the LI can be found on the tire sidewall. Example: 225/40 R18 XL 92Y. The addition of XL (extra load), also called Reinforced for some tires, describes the reinforced version in this size.
New from 2022 are HL tires, these HL tires have an even higher load capacity than XL tires. Due to continuously increasing wheel or axle loads, this new type of tire was necessary for, for example, electric vehicles.

Tire OE Marking
The marking is located on the sidewall of the tire and indicates the specification of the tire. Some of these are purely Pirelli identifiers.
